We’re excited to share this interview with Ger, better known as CryptoPumpz—a passionate voice in the Kaspa community whose enthusiasm shines through in every livestream and upload. Based in Dublin, Ireland, Ger brings a sharp mix of humor, energy, and technical curiosity to the space. As the youngest of eight siblings, he grew up in a home filled with competition, camaraderie, and resilience—traits that helped him win two national bodybuilding titles before turning his focus to blockchain.

Since discovering Kaspa, Ger has become one of its most enthusiastic advocates. Through his YouTube channel, CryptoPumpz, he breaks down complex topics—such as mining, KRC-20 tokens, wallet setup, and node operation—in an engaging and approachable manner. He even hosted Ireland’s first Kaspa node and set up a full home mining rig, proving he’s as hands-on as he is passionate.

Whether he’s streaming conversations with crypto builders or offering straight-talking insights on the latest developments, Ger’s goal is clear: to educate, inspire, and grow a welcoming community around Kaspa and decentralized tech.

Let’s dive in and get to know the man behind the channel—his story, his insights, and what excites him most about the future of Kaspa.

His Background and Story

Jennifer: Can you tell us a bit about your personal background?

CryptoPumpz: My name is Ger, and I was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. I'm the youngest of eight children. My oldest sister and I were born in the Coombe Hospital, while the rest of my siblings were born at home. When I asked my mom why they had so many kids, she said it was because the Catholic Church frowned on contraception. I had to wash my ears out after that one—I always figured it was just because they didn't have a TV back then! I currently live with my wife and 6-year-old daughter,  not too far from where I grew up.

Growing up, my family was incredibly active. I played a variety of sports, including swimming, badminton, running, and hurling. If you haven't seen hurling, look it up online—it's probably the fastest sport in the world! My sister was a star athlete, playing camogie (the women's version of hurling) for Dublin and representing Ireland in soccer.

In recent years, I became involved in bodybuilding and won two Irish titles before retiring in 2021. After stepping away from the competition, I dove into Kaspa and started a YouTube channel, partly to fill the void left by my absence from the competition.

Jennifer: Have you always been interested in technology and social media?

CryptoPumpz:Throughout my career, I've worked in technology, specializing in electronics, POS systems, telephone systems, and broadband TV installation. While I've never tackled coding, I'm fascinated by learning how technologies like Kaspa and Proof-of-Work (PoW) function. Diving into these topics has become a new passion, fueling my curiosity and keeping me engaged in the ever-evolving tech world. I also set up a Kaspa node and have three KS0 Ultra miners running in my house, which was fun to learn how to set up.

Social Media and KRC20S

Jennifer: Your visuals are top-tier—where do you get those incredible graphics? Do you have a background in design or illustration?

CryptoPumpz:  I've no prior experience in graphic design, but I've made some progress over time, although I'm still catching up to the impressive YouTubers I admire. I've been using Canva for creating thumbnails and CapCut for video editing, learning as I go. Every day's a school day!

Jennifer: Did you have a social media presence before discovering Kaspa?

CryptoPumpz: I joined X, Telegram, Discord, and YouTube specifically to stay updated with the latest developments in the Kaspa ecosystem. Previously, my only social media presence was an Instagram account, which had no connection to Kaspa or cryptocurrency.

Jennifer: Out of all the videos you’ve created, which one are you most proud of, and why?

CryptoPumpz: I’m most proud of the video series I created on KRC-20 tokens when they first launched. These videos covered how to buy KRC-20 tokens using Kaspr Bot and how to set up and use the Kasware wallet. I’m thrilled with the positive feedback, as many people found them educational and helpful.

Live Streaming and the Pump Community

Jennifer: You regularly lost live sessions. Do you ever get nervous before going live?

CryptoPumpz: Yes, I still get very nervous on live streams, maybe slightly less than I did at the start, but I just get on with it.

Jennifer: What kind of prep goes into your livestreams? Any rituals or must-dos?

CryptoPumpz: For the Live streams, I try to get the guest or guests in the stream a few minutes before to check the audio and video. Some guests prefer to have the camera on or off, which is fine, but you need good audio, or people won’t listen.

Jennifer: Do you follow a set livestream schedule, or is it more spontaneous?

CryptoPumpz: No, I have no schedule. I contact the guests and ask them if they would like to come on and tell us about what they are developing or working on and, of course if they have any alpha. If they accept, we set a date and a time, and I schedule it on YouTube.

Jennifer: What’s been your favorite livestream moment so far? Any funny or unexpected challenges while living?

CryptoPumpz: My favorite live streams so far are "The Sunday Roast" sessions I host with Levendi, Chris, Tom Hutchinson, Ashton, and Wolf. These monthly Sunday streams are laid-back, fun, and low-pressure, with six of us sharing the spotlight. Check out our latest one here. Once, when I had Ashton and Chris from Nacho the Kat on, an echo disrupted the stream. I couldn't fix it and had to end the session early. Turns out, I'd left a YouTube tab open to monitor the stream—a rookie mistake I'll never repeat!

Jennifer: Who are some of the most memorable guests you've had on your livestreams?

CryptoPumpz: The live streams that stand out the most are those featuring Kaspador, Wolf, Wolfie, Louis from Zealous, and the team from Nacho the Kat. These guests generously gave their time to join me, and their easygoing nature made the conversations truly enjoyable. I'm grateful for everyone who takes the time to come on and chat, but these sessions are the ones that stick with me.

Kaspa: The Crème de la Crème of Tech

Jennifer: How did you first discover Kaspa?

CryptoPumpz: I got into crypto in 2021 at the market peak when a coworker mentioned Bitcoin. Like many, I dismissed it as "magic internet money" and didn't explore it further. Later, I researched top cryptocurrencies and purchased Cardano, HBAR, and a few others that I can no longer recall. Since I bought at the peak, I lost money when the market crashed. While browsing YouTube, I discovered a video by Crypto Jon discussing Kaspa. Intrigued, I dove into researching Kaspa, learning what made it unique and, in my view, a true cryptocurrency. In June 2023, I sold all my crypto holdings and invested everything I could into Kaspa. Unfortunately, Jon later sold his Kaspa for a Toad meme coin, which was his choice. However, I felt he didn't need to speak negatively about Kaspa after selling—discretion would have been better.

Jennifer: Congrats on hosting the first Kaspa node in Ireland—huge milestone! How is the Kaspa community in Ireland?

CryptoPumpz: The Kaspa community in Ireland is currently quite small. Some of my YouTube channel viewers, a few family members, and a couple of coworkers are interested in Kaspa, but beyond that, there isn't much of a visible community.

Jennifer: Are you currently mining Kaspa? Was mining your entry point into the project?

CryptoPumpz: I began buying Kaspa in 2023 and started mining in September 2024 to learn the process. I purchased three KS0 Ultra miners, which produce about 7 KAS per day. Setting them up was a fun and educational experience.

Jennifer: You often repost updates on KRC-20 projects. What excites you most about this layer of the Kaspa ecosystem?

CryptoPumpz: I've noticed that KRC-20 and KRC-721 activity has been quiet recently, but I'm confident that the upcoming release of smart contracts on Kaspa will spark a surge in interest. When KRC-20s were launched, Kaspa demonstrated its scalability, handling 17 million transactions per second over 24 hours at a block rate of one block per second, which was highly impressive.

I hold several Kaspa-based tokens, including meme coins like Kaspy and Pacman, as well as Zeal, the native token for Zealous Swap, a decentralized exchange being built on Kaspa. I also hold Nacho, which began as a meme coin but has grown significantly due to the team's efforts to add substantial utility.

Additionally, I'm part of the Wolfy token community and hold Wolfpack NFTs. The Wolfy model is unique: the more NFTs you hold, the greater your weekly Wolfy token profit share. Real-world businesses back the token, with NFT sale proceeds reinvested into ventures like food trucks and Wolfie's Bar in South Africa. This innovative business model stands out, and it appears effective, as Wolfy's token value has risen while that of others has declined.

Jennifer: What developments are you most looking forward to in Kaspa’s future?

CryptoPumpz: I'm most excited about smart contracts on Kaspa, as they'll unlock limitless possibilities for the network. They'll attract liquidity from other blockchains and draw developers to build on Kaspa. I loved watching the Crescendo testnet go live and seeing the visualizer smoothly scale from 1 to 10 blocks per second without any issues.

Jennifer: If you had 30 seconds to explain Kaspa to someone new, what would you say?

CryptoPumpz: Kaspa combines Bitcoin's strengths with none of its weaknesses, addressing scalability by processing blocks every 100ms compared to Bitcoin's 10-minute block time. To spark interest among non-crypto users, I encourage them to download the Kaspium wallet on their phones. I send them some KAS to demonstrate the speed of direct, intermediary-free transactions, which usually piques their curiosity.

Jennifer: What’s your experience been like engaging with the Kaspa community?

CryptoPumpz: I've had a great experience with the Kaspa community. A group of us started a Sunday Roast event, bringing together various members of the Kaspa community to connect and engage with one another.

Jennifer: Have you attended any in-person Kaspa or broader blockchain events?

CryptoPumpz: I attended the Kaspa Industrial Initiative (KII) meetup in Dublin, where I met Chris and Tom Hutchinson, Shai, and Ori Newman, and enjoyed chatting with Luke, as well as Yoshi from Kaspa Japan, who lives in Ireland. Although Chad, Wolfie, and Michael Sutton were present, I didn't get a chance to speak with them.

I attended the free evening event, but the main event the next day required a ticket costing €400–€500, which I had not purchased. At the evening event, I introduced myself to Rory O'Neill from KII, mentioning my small YouTube channel about Kaspa and how three attendees were there because of my videos, which was thrilling. When Rory asked if I was attending the main event, I explained I didn't have a ticket. He kindly arranged for my name to be added to the list, allowing me to attend. The main event was fantastic, featuring four hours of speakers discussing their exciting plans for building on Kaspa, which further fueled my enthusiasm for its future.

There is also a Kaspa meetup in September in Berlin, and Mrs. Pumpz and I hope to attend
