While more and more people are posting Kaspa-related content, one who has been a staple in the community since 2023 is Kaspa Silver. He has posted tutorials, news, and commentary videos on YouTube and keeps us up-to-date on Kaspa happenings on X.com (Twitter). His videos are a great start for users just learning about Kaspa, as they are informative and thorough.
Fortunately, we have secured an exclusive interview with him, during which we will learn more about him and his journey with Kaspa. We ask him about getting into Kaspa content generation and his market insights. This is an interview you don’t want to miss.
Crypto
What drew you to the world of cryptocurrency and, ultimately, Kaspa?
What originally drew me in is likely the same thing that attracts most people—the possibility of getting rich quickly. Over time, I learned about the great risks involved with investing in crypto, and personally, I prefer to focus on assets that allow me to sleep well at night and simply park my money for the long term. Bitcoin seemed to fit this mold due to its historical rise, so I began researching it extensively. Much of this research came from a YouTube channel called Bitcoin University, which taught me much about money and the true purpose behind cryptocurrency.
During my research, I stumbled upon a comment on CoinMarketCap under the Bitcoin thread, where a user claimed, "Satoshi created Kaspa." At that point, I had seen plenty of people promoting projects in various ways, but this particular statement caught my attention because of how absurd it seemed. Today, I realize it wasn't as ridiculous as it initially appeared, but personally, I don't believe Satoshi created Kaspa. Instead, I think Kaspa embodies Satoshi's vision of a peer-to-peer electronic cash system.
This led me to dive deeper into Kaspa, especially after noticing its impressive chart and learning that the founder was involved in the Ethereum whitepaper. From there, the rest is history. I quickly realized that there was a significant lack of quality content about Kaspa online, and I felt it deserved well-crafted educational resources to help people learn more. I decided to take on this task, and that's how the Kaspa Silver YouTube channel was born.
You post that you only own two coins—Kaspa and Bitcoin. Did you always stick to these two, or were you ever involved in any other ecosystems?
Yes, in the past, I messed up a couple of things. To name a few, Safemoon (LOL), Dogecoin, and Vechain. Within the Vechain ecosystem, I dived into the world of NFTs. I even won tickets to a UFC fight because of my holdings with them. I dodged a bullet because while in this ecosystem, I started my Bitcoin research, which had already motivated me to start liquidating everything for BTC. While doing this, I found Kaspa, so I ended up liquidating most of it into Kaspa. A few months later, the same NFT ecosystem I was in completely disappeared. The devs left and showed me that my path to reduce risk was wise. The whole purpose of crypto at this moment to me is to have an alternative to using fiat which has always trended to zero. Everything else is noisy, so my current strategy is to stick with only KAS and BTC.
Are you also active in the BTC community?
I am not. I am just a believer in its long-term growth and actively keep up to date with any new updates regarding it.
How regularly do you change your crypto investment strategy—percentages, DCA, etc?
My strategy has not really changed since I started investing. I like to DCA weekly into assets I believe in and keep it very simple. I study what I hold to increase my conviction, which allows me to maybe throw in more capital than I typically do, but at the moment, I am sticking to a strict DCA strategy. I aim to keep crypto well over 50% of my net worth, though.
How did you know that you found something special in Kaspa?
Kaspa being fair launched and the founder being within the ETH whitepaper were two things that got my attention, but the list can go on and on. Truly remarkable technology is being built here, and even if it does not take off as we hope, it was an awesome learning experience of what Proof of Work is capable of. I believe Kaspa is setting new standards for the crypto space.
Do you keep up with new networks and technologies, or just stick with Kaspa?
I often get recommended to look at other projects, and I can say that every single one of them fails my test. Being fair launched is crucial to Kaspa and Bitcoin's success. Most coins simply do not follow this. Remaining PoW is another strong requirement because it prevents coins from being made out of thin air.
Social Media
You started your Kaspa Silver social media accounts in April 2023. Were you active in the crypto community before that?
I actually had a more personal YouTube channel back in my "normie" days, where I covered crypto-related content and made content for Safemoon. All of it was meant to teach me and bring me to where I am today. This old channel never took off, though.
Do you work in crypto (social media) full-time?
I don’t. I do this on the side together with my full time remote job.
What is the most difficult part of running social media accounts—video ideas, video production, marketing, etc?
The most difficult part would be finding time. I am married and have my first child on the way, so my time is becoming increasingly limited. It is crucial to have a disciplined life to be able to accomplish what you need to do.
Do you have any tips or tricks that might help our readers who are thinking about starting Kaspa-related social media?
The best tip I can give is to be yourself and make your content educational. Allow viewers to come in and leave with something new to think about.
What kind of information do you share with your Patreon community?
My Patreon does not contain much alpha. Its goal is to allow people to donate to me and support my work. I do offer some benefits, such as being able to view my YouTube videos first, see crypto portfolios, and be a part of donating to future Kaspa development. The discord you get access to is completely free for anyone to join.
Your Patreon account also offers users a glimpse into your retirement account and stock portfolios. Do you have other social media accounts where you post more information about these TradFi accounts?
I aim to make a second channel to talk more generally about personal finance, life management, and spirituality. This will contain more information on those topics. This is the link to it: https://www.youtube.com/@VictorResto
How do you keep track of all the Kaspa-related news?
It involves me scanning the X and Kaspa discord daily for anything new.
Technical
Have you felt that there has been price manipulation over the price of KAS? If so, how?
I really don't know. To me, the main reason for sell pressure was the launch of KRC-20 tokens since most people who got involved in this had to sell Kaspa to be part of this ecosystem. Many people blame MEXC for things as well. At the end of the day - for institutions and other exchanges that want Kaspa - I am pretty sure they would not want to list it at an all-time high if they could get more at a much lower price.
What did you think of the launch of KRC20 tokens?
I think KRC-20 tokens are great for Kaspa in general. They allow Kaspa to show off its ability to handle millions of transactions without any issues and increase fees to keep miners in the game. Personally, I don’t mess with any KRC-20 tokens and don’t like them a whole lot, but because of what Kaspa stands for in terms of decentralization and being permissionless, I am not against them existing. You cannot remove greed, so there will always be a demand for these kinds of tokens.
Do you think Kaspa needs smart contracts?
Yes, Kaspa enabling smart contracts will attract more developers that will be able to build out the ecosystem of Kaspa and continue to show off what it is capable of.
What is it like seeing large institutional clients, like Grayscale and Marathon, showing interest in Kaspa?
It's a testament to the validity of what I found here in Kaspa, which is actually revolutionary. After 15 years of being a Bitcoin-only mining company, Marathon Digital Holdings could have chosen many other proof-of-work coins to mine in the past, but they chose Kaspa.
How has your journey with Kaspa evolved since you first discovered it?
Ever since finding Kaspa, my knowledge about cryptocurrencies has grown exponentially. I love seeing how Kaspa creates fans, not just tourists who come and leave. People who look into Kaspa tend to ask all the important questions and are just motivated to learn more about it on a fundamental level rather than how they can get rich overnight. Kaspa is bringing back the core purpose of crypto and bringing back to focus on how important the cypherpunk beliefs are. We want decentralized censorship-resistant sound digital money that is up to speed with what we are used to with any other piece of tech we use today.
What are the latest developments in Kaspa that you are most excited about?
10 BPS, DAGKNIGHT, and smart contracts are the order in which I am excited about each development coming in the future. Each one will level up Kaspa to be superior to just about anything else out there.
What are some use cases you are most excited about for KAS?
The two most important use cases will be P2P transactions for goods/services and Kaspa tapping into the stablecoin market. I believe Kaspa was built to take over this market and be one of the leading networks in finalizing transactions between stables. .
How do you see Kaspa evolving over the next few years?
I think it will continue to have a long and steady growth trajectory that is fully organic. Eventually I believe Kaspa will be handling millions of transactions daily in the future.
Mining
You have multiple videos about mining Kaspa using different miners. Do you have any advice for anyone looking to get started mining Kaspa?
At the current moment, I have low expectations in terms of profitability, but it's a great way to learn more about how Kaspa works and be part of the network.
Solo mining vs pooled?
I suggest solo mining to your own node, especially when Kaspa is running 10BPS. Kaspa is built for solo mining to enable you to have less variance in your rewards, rely on your node, and increase your privacy while mining.
If you are very interested in learning and not focused on profits so much, you are better off getting a KS2 LITE to start learning how all this works.
Kaspa mining is, I believe, a high-risk, high-reward investment. Personally, I would say buying Kaspa is better at the moment, but things can flip very quickly. Once 10BPS and smart contracts come online, keeping your miners, no matter how old they are, may become a good idea.
Do you recommend running a Kaspa node?
100%. This should be the desire of every Kaspa holder. Running your own node and connecting your wallet to it allows you to ensure your transactions go through, allowing you to be as self-sovereign as possible while using the Kaspa network.
Working with the Kaspa Community
You are a contributor to the Kaspa Wiki. What sections have you worked on?
I have spent some time on the FAQ section cleaning some sections up, wrote the entire paper wallet guide, and also developed a spreadsheet showing which wallet seed phrases are compatible with each other.
You sometimes post video ideas in your private Discord channel. How much inspiration do you receive from your Discord participants?
I receive a lot of ideas from them. They always leave good questions that allow me to formulate a list of topics I must discuss over time.
You have created a Kaspa Silver Fund that takes a cut from your monthly Patreon subscriptions and accepts donations from users to support Kaspa innovation. Why is it important for you to share some of your earnings with Kaspa development?
I think it only makes sense. Kaspa is all about the community and everyone doing what they can to ensure Kaspa grows. When I first joined the project, I wanted to contribute somehow. I had no talents in coding, but I found my talents elsewhere, creating educational content for Kaspa. Doing this has blessed me financially, and the least I can do is try to give back to the community in a way that benefits all of us.
You were able to interview Kaspa core developer Shai Wyborski early on in your channel. How did that happen?
Shai was very open to talking with pretty much anyone in the early days—he has always been that way. I reached out to him, and he happily accepted the opportunity to appear on my channel.
Who are some of your dream guests that you would like to see on your channel?
It would be amazing to get Yonatan on the channel.
Partnerships
You have several wallet discounts. Do you reach out to partner with the wallets or do they reach out to you?
Wallet partnerships have been the best form of partnership because I don't have to reach out to them most of the time. They offer affiliate programs that you sign up for, and it does not require me to say any specific words about the product. This allows me to be as honest as possible when reviewing these products.
Aside from your Patreon account, and public media profiles, how else can our readers support your work?
Share, share, share. Get the content out there with others. The more eyes on my content, the more discussions and questions I can generate, and the more content I can create.
