The Hong Kong Web3 Festival 2025 was held from April 6 to April 9, 2025, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center (HKCEC), Hall 5BCDE. This marked the event's third edition, co-hosted by Wanxiang Blockchain Labs and HashKey Group and organized by W3ME. The festival is recognized as one of Asia's premier crypto gatherings, bringing together industry leaders to explore the future of Web3 and showcase the latest developments in the space.

The Kaspa Ecosystem Foundation (KEF) served as a side-event sponsor for the festival, and as part of their participation, Kaspa hosted dedicated side events and had a booth presence, engaging with attendees and showcasing their initiatives. The event featured a variety of talks covering topics such as MEV extraction, RWA (real-world assets), based rollups, and more. Notable speakers included Monica Forman, Director of Communication at the KEF; Sinka Gao from Delphinus Lab; and speakers from Kasplex and Igra Labs and other organizations. Michael Sutton Talk

Kaspa core developer Michael Sutton also took the stage at the event, giving a brief update on the upcoming Crescendo hard fork before diving into the future architecture of the L1 <> L2 bridge. He described the ultimate goal as an atomic, composable zk-rollup system and outlined key components, including L1 sequencing, data availability, and zk-based settlement. Sutton also noted that the Crescendo upgrade already includes elements that enable virtual machines. According to reports, his session drew the largest crowd at that time.

Welcoming Hans Moog

One panel sponsored by KEF was Exploring Optimal ZK Technologies for UTXO-Based Layer 1 Protocols: Domain-specific Languages for Verifier Synthesis and Universal Hash Functions Across Architectures and Fields. This panel featured a new face on the Kaspa team: Hans Moog.

Kaspa Web3

Moog earned his computer science degree from Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich, specializing in cloud computing, IT security, and artificial intelligence. At 21, he founded his first company and has since contributed to several high-profile projects, managing global development teams. In 2018, he became a senior developer and researcher at the IOTA Foundation. We hope he joins the Silver Squad, especially to work work on ZK rollups for Kaspa. Welcome (potentially) to the Kaspa Fam, Hans!

Hans Moog

This is after Dr. Sompolinsky reached out to Moog via X.com in January 2025, expressing interest in the project.

Kaspa Kii Gigawatt Stablecoin Pushes Forward

On April 6, 2025, Kii announced progress on its ambitious Gigawatt Stable Coin (GWC) initiative. Central to this effort is the development of the Gigawatt Stable Coin Regulatory Oracle System (GROS), a decentralized compliance framework designed to help the GWC remain regulatory-compliant across multiple jurisdictions. By leveraging oracle technology, GROS connects off-chain regulatory data to the blockchain, enabling real-time updates and adaptability.

The initiative has even caught the attention of Kaspa core developer Shai Wyborski, who commented that it "sounds cool," hinting at growing excitement within the ecosystem.

Dr. Shai Wyborski on House of Chimera Spaces

While on the House of Chimera X.com spaces, Dr. Wyborski discusses Kaspa. When asked What is Kaspa, he responded with:

"If you asked me this in January 2022, I'd say that Kaspa is the fastest proof-of-work, and I think this is a very partial answer. Kaspa is the future, man. It's an amazing protocol with so many features that are very useful for solving many problems the entire cryptocurrency industry faces.

If you want me to get technical about it, Kaspa is the only multi-leader decentralized consensus.

This is the magic property—that it is a multi-leader consensus. For every round, several blocks have to agree on each other, giving the protocol designer a lot of power.  It allows great parallelism, which provides high throughput and quick confirmations. It also offers unique solutions to MEV, fee markets, and oracle issues. And it's just healthier, the type of consensus that is harder to implement. But once you have it, it furnishes a whole new array to old problems—Holy Grail problems that some people consider unsolvable."

For those eager to explore his ideas further, we're excited to share that Dr. Wyborski has recently launched his own YouTube channel and website, wybor.ski. Be sure to check them out and subscribe for more cutting-edge discussions.

Kaspa On My Mine

Greater Good Mining recently reported a notable drop in Kaspa's network hash rate over several days, resulting in reduced network difficulty and higher daily yields for miners. While some setups remain unprofitable, the Bitmain KS5L is nearing the break-even point, and the newer KS7 miner is currently performing well. The host advises caution when investing in new mining equipment, as hash rates can shift quickly, and also highlights the upcoming Crescendo hard fork, which may bring further changes to the network.
